All are available in steel, stainless steel A2 and A4, brass and nylon, with sizes from M2 up to M48 depending on type.

What is the difference between a nyloc nut and a locknut?

A nyloc nut (DIN 982/985) has a nylon collar insert that grips the bolt thread to resist loosening from vibration. A locknut (DIN 439B) is simply a thinner version of a standard hex nut, often used in pairs — one tightened against the other — to create a locking effect. Nylocs are generally more effective as a single-nut locking solution.

Which nut type should I use for an exposed or decorative finish?

Dome nuts (DIN 1587) provide a smooth, rounded cap over the bolt end, giving a neat appearance and protecting against injury from exposed threads. They are commonly used in handrails, furniture, and public-facing steelwork. For stainless steel applications, A2 or A4 dome nuts give a corrosion-resistant decorative finish.

What is a serrated flange nut used for?

Serrated flange nuts (DIN 6923) have a built-in washer face with serrations that bite into the mating surface when tightened. This provides resistance to loosening without needing a separate washer. They are widely used in automotive, plant, and general assembly applications where vibration is a factor.
