Our socket screw range covers capscrews (DIN 912), countersunk sockets (DIN 7991), button heads (ISO 7380), shoulder bolts, and all grub screw point types. Available in high tensile grades 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9, plus stainless steel A2 and A4. Socket screws are used where a compact, high-strength fastening is needed, particularly in machinery, tooling and precision assemblies.
What is the advantage of a socket cap screw over a hex bolt?
Socket cap screws have a smaller head profile than hex bolts, allowing them to be recessed into a counterbored hole for a flush or below-surface finish. They are tightened with an Allen key rather than a spanner, making them ideal for applications with limited access. They are also typically available in higher tensile grades (up to 12.9).
What are the different grub screw point types used for?
Plain cup point is the most common general-purpose type, providing good grip on a shaft. Cone point gives the strongest hold and is often used with a mating dimple. Flat point is used where the surface must not be damaged. Dog point locates into a hole or slot, and knurled cup point provides extra grip for semi-permanent applications.
Are socket screws available in stainless steel?
Yes. We stock socket capscrews, countersunk, and button head types in both A2 and A4 stainless steel. Stainless socket screws are commonly used in food processing, marine, pharmaceutical, and outdoor architectural applications where corrosion resistance is required.
